Today was catch up day! Spent the first half of the day doing soooooo much school work with the kids. (I mentioned we homeschool right?) Well last week the plague graced our home with its dubious presence so we obviously got quite behind in studies. We do not take sick days. I mean.. we do... we don't work while vomiting that's cruel and unusual punishment. But, we don't reschedule assignments for anything other than holidays or vacations. After illness we just play catchup by having a heavier workload a few days until all caught up.
I have plans to stick these monkeys on college fairly early so no slacking! I figure if I can get at MINIMUM a 2 year.. hopefully a 4 year degree in each of them by 18, then when they turn on us like vultures and then flee the scene they won't be stuck scraping carcasses off the highway and can instead at least leave home able to provide for their basic needs financially.
But I regress... today wasn't college prep day it was a day to sew up the Hopkins fabrics the girls waited and waited for and have drooled over for weeks waiting for me to have time to sew it up. We chose the Hazelwood Hoodie and the Leggins patterns both by Love Notions.
The front of the dress was constructed with a panel that was far too small for the flowy style of the tunic length hoodie the girls chose so I did have to first assemble more dimension around the panel by adding a border. All the lovely dot fabric is the gorgeous cotton lycra from Eurogirls Boutique. Now the Shopkins panels and the Shopkins fabric that was used in the leggings were purchased on Facebook in the Fabric Dealers group.
The sewing process was difficult at best. I am fairly certain Kel clobbered me in the head with 15,000 spools of thread.. (ok maybe more like 40 but dude... still sucked!) Which also means tomorrow I get to reorganize my thread drawer.. thanks son.
On a side note... I started bootcamp at the gym today. OMG.. so much pain. But, down 84 pounds since February as of this morning so 99 pounds until goal. Getting crazy close to the half way point. It's gonna take time, it's gonna be hard, and I know sometimes in gonna suck big monkey balls but I am gonna make the goal. Hopefully by my 35th birthday next May.
Tomorrow - we build a play dome.. there will be photos.. maybe even video.. that depends on how many times I curse in the process because we ALL know that is so gonna happen.
