I have been working on learning doll face felting. I adore making waldorf babies and now I can really detail their little faces. It's a process for sure. Little Miss Red Riding Hood here was so much fun to create.
First you tie the head and then cover it in wool such as this. I added and added to the chin area until the shape seemed accurate. In past dolls I think I did not add enough there as I think I prefer.
Then you want to add on some nose and lips and a more prominent chin piece. This shows them just barely started and stuck to the face.
After many hours of STABBING and stabbing that sucker with your felting needle you can shape and form it into a nice little face.
The get some skin going!
Then add details such as tie the mouth strings and add blush and freckles and choose eye placement.
Then stitch the eyes and try on some hair... This was for sure a blonde.
Then stitch that hair down!! It's got a nice fall to it.
Then you start adding body parts and stuffing them!
stuff stuff stuff
Don't forget the tushie!
getting close just needs details!
finished but rather nude dolly
getting some clothes together
and her little basket!
dress her up and make her a basket!
crochet goodies for the basket!
then final touches!! some pantaloons under the dress an apron... can't miss the details
Of course once finally finishing the doll she needed good photos! She is up for sale in the etsy store now! Custom dolls can be ordered as well.
